Mayflower II Is Taking Shape - Ship wrights at work on the frame of Mayflower II at Brixham.Rapid progress is being made in Upham's shipyard at Brixham, Devon, with the Construction of the Mayflower II, 183-ton wooden replica of the vessel in which the 102 Pilgrim Fathers sailed to America in 1620. She is expected to be under sail in the summer.Manned by a crew of 21 (the same number as no the first Mayflower) selected from volunteers and carrying 30 passengers, Mayflower II is to be sailed across the Atlantic to Plymouth, Massachusetts, as a gift to the people of the United States from the people of Britain.
