The position and alignment of each stone was calculated to match the seasonal movements of the sun, moon and certain stars. This is however a true circle, since the north-eastern side is flattened. The final space walk to perform work on the telescope was turned in May 18 by astronauts Grunsfeld and Andrew Feustel, who finished up chores by replacing outer blanket layer insulation on Hubble.

AS11-45-6706 (20 July 1969) --- An Apollo 11 stereo view showing a clump of lunar surface powder, with various small pieces of different color. Many small, shiny spherical particles can be seen. The picture is three inches across. The exposure was made by the Apollo 11 35mm stereo close-up camera. The camera was specially developed to get the highest possible resolution of a small area. A three-inch square area is photographed with a flash illumination and at a fixed distance. The camera is mounted on a walking stick, and the astronauts use it by holding it up against the object to be photographed and pulling the trigger. The pictures are in color and give a stereo view, enabling the fine detail to be seen very clearly. The project is under the direction of Professor T. Gold of Cornell University and Mr. F. Pearce of NASA. The camera was designed and built by Eastman Kodak. Professor E. Purcell of Harvard University and Dr. E. Land of the Polaroid Corporation have contributed to the pr

The GOES-East satellite captured a Midwestern wintertime "White Out" at 2015 UTC/3 15 p.m. EST on January 6, 2014. Blowing snow and intensely cold air created dangerous white-out conditions over the Midwest, particularly around the Great Lakes, where daytime temperatures averaged -20F with a wind chill near -50F. The GOES-East satellite is managed by NOAA. The image was created at NASA's GOES Project at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md.

ISS015-E-11351 (10 June 2007) --- This is one of a series of images photographed with a digital still camera using an 800mm focal length featuring the different areas of the Space Shuttle Atlantis as it approached the International Space Station and performed a back-flip to accommodate close scrutiny by eyeballs and cameras. This image shows part of Atlantis' underside thermal protection system and part of the port side cabin, including the hatch, as well as a section of the open payload bay cover. Distance from the station and shuttle at this time was approximately 600 feet.

This in an aerial view (looking north) of a Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), often referrd to as Moonbuggy”, simulator area built at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) where tesing was performed. The LRV was developed under the direction of MSFC to provide astronauts with greater mobility on the lunar surface.

ISS027-E-032429 (18 May 2011) --- This high angle, partial view of the space shuttle Endeavours crew cabin was provided by an Expedition 27 crew member during a survey of the approaching STS-134 vehicle prior to docking with the International Space Station. As part of the survey and part of every mission's activities, Endeavour performed a back-flip for the rendezvous pitch maneuver (RPM). The image was photographed with a digital still camera, using a 1000mm lens.
