MARE AND CO.'S IRON SHIP-BUILDING WORKS, 1854

Completion of the Atlantic Telegraph cable as the last inch of cable passes through the machinery of Messrs Glass and Elliott at Morden Whard, East Greenwich. 2300 miles worth of cable were manufactured prior to the expedition of 1875 by the steam-ship 'Great Eastern'. The project was hampered by bad weather, but the cable was successfully laid the following year. Date: June 3rd 1865

The second stage of the fitting workshop, at the Grand Junction railway engine works at Crewe. Repairs of locomotive engines and the completion of new engines, take place using planing machines and slotting machines in the workshop. The workmen work under Robert Stevenson's policy, 'A locomotive engine must be put together as carefully as a watch'. Date: 24th March 1849

The underground was deemed to be the solution for convenient travel in densely populated areas. Switzerland, Vevey. "Dairy flour" factory commercialized by the food company "Farine Lacte Henri Nestl", founded in 1866 by Henri Nestl (1814-1890). In 1866 Henri Nestl created a combination of milk powder and wheat flour, starting industrial production in 1868. Within a few years his products invaded almost all of Europe and America, sometimes completely replacing breastfeeding, and sometimes, mostly, making up for the shortage of breast milk. After its first condensed and powdered milk products for infants, the company grew strongly, merging in 1905 with the "Anglo-Swiss Milk Company" to to form the "Nestl Group". Engraving.
