Shaving jug ca. 1730-40 British This brass jug was intended to hold warm water for shaving, and would have been used in tandem with a basin that had a notched rim to be held firmly against the neck. Much of the 18th century domestic brass that we see today was originally silvered, but through use has lost its plating. Coffee Can, rounded rectangular, with horizontal ribbed band, Bennewitz and Zonen firm, 1824 The rectangular pot with rounded corners rests with a vaulted foot on a straight base. Foot and barrel are separated by a vertically ribbed band. The vaulted barrel broadens itself to a straight part adorned with a ribbed band, above which the rejuvenating shoulder is located.
