Children's jacket made of white twill cotton with hanging round collar and decorated with broderie anglaise., Anonymous, c. 1910 Children's jacket (car jacket) for a girl or a boy of white twill cotton with hanging round collar and decorated Broderie Anglaise. Model: Round neck, blooming long sleeves, high waist. Double flat folds on the front and back, which give the jacket extra space from the high waist. Closure in the middle front by means of two mother -of -pearl knots and founded loops on the short top. The short body is lined with white linen, the rest is unlined. Decoration: An intermediate creature with open flowers runs along the front buildings and furthermore horizontally above the hem. The collar and sleeves are trimmed with a scalloped batist with Broderie Anglaise. On the hem a border with three rows of open flowers above each other and scalloped. Date: fall/winter 1926.Jeanne Lanvin was apprenticed to a milliner and a dressmaker before opening her own millinery shop in 1889. She expanded into dressmaking when her clients began asking for the ensembles in which she adorned her daughter, Marguerite di Pietro (1897-1958). Her style embodied the femininity of youth in a most modern way with meticulous and relatively sparse surface embellishments and robe de style silhouettes, which could be worn by women of all ages. Lanvin's aptitude can be seen through her house's 1920s expansion into fur, lingerie, men's wear, household goods and perfume. She even had the forethought to open her own dye factory which produced the inimitable 'Lanvin blue.' Here, ethereal Indian muslin is embroidered with roses that sway like their Kashmir buta (paisley) counterparts.. Wedding Gown with Train and Rosettes. Margaretha Johanna Weddik Wendel wore this gown when she married Baron Hieronymus Nicolaas van Slingelandt on 25 November 1812. It follows the early 19th-century fashion of full evening and court gowns, which usually had a tulle ruffle at the neckline and sleeves, and a decorated hem. The decoration consists of a satin border, pleated ribbon, roses, and loose petals.

. This dress was presented in Paris in 1951 as part of the fashion designer Balenciagas winter collection. Mrs Brusse probably bought the showroom model in Amsterdam from Catharina Kruysveldt-de Mare. Mrs Brusse had a good figure and kept a hand on the purse-strings; she therefore bought marked down showroom models.

Dress 1832-35 American This transitional style indicates the aesthetic of its period. The large gigot sleeves were popular from the early 1830s through 1836 when they began to diminish to the tightly fitted sleeves of the following period. This type of sleeve was generally supported by whalebone or down filling. Another indication of its transitional disposition is the waist height and the full bell-shaped skirts. The beautiful textile is also a product of its time with a stippled ground and bright flowers against muted vinery. The patterning creates a very charming feel evocative of the romantic 1830s style. The female silhouette of the middle of the 19th century consisted of a fitted corseted bodice and wide full skirts. The conical skirts developed between the 1830s, when the high waist of the Empire silhouette was lowered and the skirts became more bell shaped, to the late 1860s, when the fullness of the skirts were pulled to the back and the bustle developed. Pleating is a technique whereby fabric is pressed into semi-permanent folds. Mrs Brusse sent everything in need of re-pleating to Brussels; according to her, this could not be done well in the Netherlands.
