The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG 121) arrives in Charleston, S.C. for its commissioning ceremony May 9, 2022. The ship is named in honor of the Marine Corps lieutenant general who was the first African-American Marine Corps aviator and Marine Corps general officer. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1988 after 38 years of service.

The guided missile destroyer USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG-53) is tied up at the 32nd St. Naval Station following the ships arrival from Bath, Maine. The JOHN PAUL JONES is the first Arleigh Burke class ship to be stationed on the West Coast. Students from the JOHN PAUL JONES Elementary School in San Diego are touring the ship. YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 9, 2022) The U.S. Coast Guard Legend-class cutter USCGC Munro (WMSL 755) sits pier side at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Munro visited CFAY during a scheduled port call while deployed in support of Operation North Pacific Guard, an annual high seas international law enforcement operation designed to detect and deter illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleets forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
