Gog and Magog Ready For Guildhall Again -- The new effigies of Gog and Magog, mythological figures that have stood in London for centuries, are now ready for return to the City Guildhall. One pair of these legendry figures was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, and the others were lost in the Blitz of the last war. The new effigies are the work of Mr. David Evans, of Walwyn Gardon City, and this picture shows Mr. Evans inspecting the painted and gilded figures of Gog (right) and Magog before they leave for the Guildhall. They are 9ft 3ins high and weight 15cwt each. May 18, 1953.
