The BAKER test of Operation Crossroads, July 25, 1946. BAKER was exploded underwater, creating an underwater pressure of 1000 pounds per square inch. Operation Crossroads tested the effects of atomic weapons on ships at sea. The ABLE shot, detonated above the target was far less damaging than BAKER. BAKER created a tremendous underwater shock wave and deadly nuclear fall out. (BSLOC_2015_2_5)

The STOKES shot was a 19 kiloton explosion detonated while suspended from barrage balloons. The wrecked Navy Goodyear Blimp had been in free flight over 5 miles form ground zero when destroyed collapsed by the blast's shock wave. Nevada test Site, August 7, 1957
