Dr. Arthur Fleischmann, the well-known Australian sculptor, in his London studio with the striking 'Perspex' relief panels he has recently carved for the I.C.I. stand at the British industries fair.Dr. Fleischmann, who lived for nine years in Sydney, is a pioneer in the use of plastic materials for sculpture. He made several statues in Australia - up to 7 feet high - in cast plastics. He has now come to the conclusion that it is a better technique to carve out of solid blocks of plastic.He is also the first sculptor to demonstrate the large-scale possibilities of 'Perapex' in sculpture, although the material has previously been used for smaller pieces.
