Interior of a Bedroom, Unknown, Brush and watercolor on white wove paper, This view features a woman's bedroom, identified as such by the bonnet next to the ribbon-framed mirror and the blue slippers at the foot of the bed. Scandinavian design is shown in the bed at the right, draped in white cotton; curtains-to-match hang at the large French windows in the rear of the room. Daylight falls inside through the window on the right, to the end, stands against the wall, a standing pendulum. There are three paintings on the wall.

English Interior in India. Artist: Anonymous, British, 19th century. Dimensions: sheet: 14 1/4 x 10 in. (36.2 x 25.4 cm). Date: ca. 1825.Painted by a skilled unidentified watercolorist, this work records a well-appointed early nineteenth-century room in India during the East India Company period, as viewed from an adjacent veranda. The two pedestal tables with scrolled, gilded legs are likely European imports, while the caned side chairs and low day bed would have been locally made. Swinging half doors and a punkah (a manually operated hanging cloth fan) encourage air circulation, and tall glass candle shields protect flames from drafts.
