The Bone Densitometer enables the imaging of rodent bones for the Rodent Research-19 experiment that is investigating two proteins that may prevent muscle and bone loss in space.

Smartphone Video Guidance Sensor Test Operations. iss068e020734 (Nov. 7, 2022) --- NASA astronaut and Expedition 68 Flight Engineer Nicole Mann poses with a pair of free-flying, cube-shaped Astrobee robotic helpers inside the Kibo laboratory module. The toaster-sized, autonomous robots were demonstrating the use of a photogrammetric vision-based technology for guidance, navigation, and control as part of the Smartphone Vision Guidance Sensor experiment.

ISS026-E-027982 (17 Feb. 2011) --- NASA astronauts Scott Kelly, Expedition 26 commander, and Catherine (Cady) Coleman, flight engineer, work in the hatchway of the Harmony nodes nadir port of the International Space Station. Kelly and Coleman were preparing for the relocation of the HTV2 to Harmonys zenith port scheduled for Feb. 18.

NASA astronaut and Expediiton 66 Flight Engineer Kayla Barron sets up hardware for the Intelligent Glass Optics investigation in the International Space Station's Microgravity Science Glovebox located in the U.S. Destiny laboratory. The advanced physics study may provide insights into manufacturing systems for Earth and space including communications, aerospace, and medical diagnostics.

iss056e033126 (June 25, 2018) --- Expedition 56 Flight Engineer Serena Auñón-Chancellor installs the NanoRacks Cubesat Deployer-14 (NRCSD-14) on the Multipurpose Experiment Platform inside the Japanese Kibo laboratory module. The NRCSD-14 was then placed in the Kibo airlock and moved outside of the space station to deploy a variety of cubesats into Earth orbit.

ISS027-E-032641 (18 May 2011) --- Judging by her countenance, NASA astronaut Cady Coleman, Expedition 27 flight engineer, is elated to have company coming to the International Space Station (ISS), from which she can see the mutual approach of the ISS and the space shuttle Endeavour (seen in portal). Five NASA astronauts and a European astronaut on the shuttle were minutes away from docking their vehicle and joining two other NASA astronauts, another European astronaut and three Russian cosmonauts for several days of joint work on the orbital complex. Coleman's role as one of the "hosts" will be interrupted by her departure from the complex in a few days when a Russian Soyuz spacecraft will be bringing her and two Expedition 27 crewmates back to Earth.

ISS015-E-05594 (29 April 2007) --- Astronaut Sunita L. Williams, Expedition 15 flight engineer, works on the hardware setup for the Capillary Flow Experiment (CFE) Vane Gap-2 (VG) in the Destiny laboratory of the International Space Station. CFE observes the flow of fluid, in particular capillary phenomena, in microgravity.

ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut and Expedition 67 Flight Engineer Samantha Cristoforetti monitors a pair of Astrobee robotic free-flyers performing autonomous maneuvers inside the International Space Station. The cube-shaped, toaster-sized robots are designed to help scientists and engineers develop and test technologies for use in microgravity to assist astronauts with routine chores, and give ground controllers additional eyes and ears on the space station.

STS054-30-009 (13 Jan 1993) --- Astronaut Susan J. Helms communicates with ground controllers about the Commercial Generic Bioprocessing Apparatus (CGBA) on Endeavour's middeck. The mission specialist holds samples from the CGBA in her left hand. Sleep restraints can be seen in their temporary stow position in the left part of the frame, near the airlock hatch. Also onboard the spacecraft for the six-day mission were astronauts John H. Casper, Donald R. McMonagle, Gregory J. Harbaugh and Mario Runco Jr.

STS083-318-001 (4-8 April 1997) --- Mission specialist Janice E. Voss, payload commander, participates in the activation of the Spacelab Science Module aboard the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Columbia. Crewed by Voss, four other NASA astronauts and two payload specialists, the scheduled 16-day mission was later cut short by a power shortage.

iss059e034463 (April 23, 2019) --- NASA astronaut Anne McClain begins depressurizing the Japanese Kibo laboratory modules airlock that contains the Materials ISS Experiment-Flight Facility (MISSE-FF) gear. MISSE-FF contains new materials exposure experiments ready for deployment outside Kibo. The study will help scientists understand how radiation, the vacuum of space and micrometeoroids affect a variety of materials.

iss059e087862 (June 3, 2019) --- NASA astronaut Anne McClain signs the inside of the vestibule between the SpaceX Dragon cargo craft and the Harmony module. The hatch to Dragon was later closed and the resupply ship detached from Harmony before it was released from the grips of the Canadarm2 robotic arm. Dragon spent nearly a month attached to the International Space Station.

S126-E-013836 (27 Nov. 2008) --- Stationed near the shuttle's galley and stowage lockers, astronauts Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper and Shane Kimbrough, STS-126 mission specialists, assemble the elements of Thanksgiving dinner on the middeck of the Space Shuttle Endeavour, while the orbiter is docked with the International Space Station. A Russian cosmonaut and seven other astronauts are not far away from the scene and all ten shared the meal and observance at a common place and time, on the eve of the scheduled Nov. 28 undocking of the shuttle and station.

ISS026-E-017741 (15 Jan. 2011) --- NASA astronaut Catherine (Cady) Coleman assists European Space Agency astronaut Paolo Nespoli with a haircut in the Kibo laboratory on the International Space Station. The two Expedition 26 flight engineers used a vacuum cleaner (partially out of frame) to remove free-floating hair particles from the air.

ISS014-E-19466 (16 April 2007) --- Astronaut Sunita L. Williams, Expedition 14 flight engineer, circled Earth almost three times as she participated in the Boston Marathon from space. She is seen here with her feet off the station treadmill on which she ultimately ran about six miles per hour while flying more than five miles each second. The treadmill is called TVIS, for Treadmill Vibration Isolation System, by the crewmembers and their ground support team. Williams' official completion time was four hours, 23 minutes and 10 seconds as she completed the race at 2:24 p.m. (EDT).

The Hard to Wet Surfaces (Eli Lilly-Hard to Wet Surfaces) investigation studies how certain materials used in the pharmaceutical industry dissolve in water while in microgravity. Results from this investigation could help improve the design of tablets that dissolve in the body to deliver drugs, thereby improving drug design for medicines used in space and on Earth.

ISS036-E-008213 (15 June 2013) --- NASA astronaut Karen Nyberg, Expedition 36 flight engineer, conducts a session with the Capillary Flow Experiment (CFE) Interior Corner Flow 9 (ICF-9) in the Harmony node of the International Space Station. CFE observes the flow of fluid, in particular capillary phenomena, in microgravity.

NASA astronauts Jessica Meir (left) and Christina Koch (right) put on their spacesuits as they prepare to leave the hatch of the International Space Station and begin the historical first-ever all-female spacewalk. The two ventured outside the International Space Station on Friday, Oct. 18, to replace faulty equipment on the stations exterior. The astronauts replaced a faulty battery charge/discharge unit (BCDU) that failed to activate following the Oct. 11 installation of new lithium-ion batteries on the space stations exterior structure. The BCDUs regulate the amount of charge put into the batteries that collect energy from the stations solar arrays to power station systems during periods when the station orbits during nighttime passes around Earth. Though the BCDU failure has not impacted station operations or crew safety, it does prevent the new batteries from providing increased station power.

S118-E-07813 (17 Aug. 2007) --- Astronaut Barbara R. Morgan, mission specialist, is surrounded by supplies in SPACEHAB, located in the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Supply transfer was one of the main activities on the agenda Aug. 17 for the STS-118 crewmembers, who learned their anticipated departure from the International Space Station will come a day earlier due to possible weather issues back home.

ISS036-E-029229 (5 Aug. 2013) --- At the robotics workstation in the International Space Station s Cupola, NASA astronaut Karen Nyberg, Expedition 36 flight engineer, participates in onboard training activity in preparation for the grapple and berthing of the Japanese Kounotori H2 Transfer Vehicle-4 (HTV-4) set for August 9. Nyberg and NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy will use Canadarm2, the station's Canadian Space Agency-provided robotic arm, to reach out and capture the vehicle for its installation on the Earth-facing port of the Harmony node

STS096-378-021 (27 May - 6 June 1999) --- Astronaut Julie Payette, mission specialist representing the Candian Space Agency (CSA), operates the Canadian-built remote manipulator system (RMS) from Discovery's aft flight deck. Television monitors nearby afford Payette two different angles of the cargo bay.

iss064e035059 (Feb. 19, 2021) --- NASA astronaut and Expedition 64 Flight Engineer Shannon Walker sets up Packed Bed Reactor Experiment (PBRE) hardware components inside the Destiny laboratory module's Microgravity Science Glovebox. The PBRE study explores how liquids and gases behave together in microgravity which may enable the design of more efficient, lightweight thermal management and life support systems that use less energy on future space exploration missions.

ISS014-E-18818 (31 March 2007) --- Astronaut Sunita L. Williams, Expedition 14 flight engineer, works with the Lab-on-a-Chip Application Development-Portable Test System (LOCAD-PTS) experiment in the Destiny laboratory of the International Space Station. LOCAD-PTS is a handheld device for rapid detection of biological and chemical substances onboard the station.
