Our present plant first flowered in the collection of Charles Tayleure of Toxteth Park, who presented it to Liverpool Botanic Garden. Specimens were handed to Mrs. E. Bury of Everton, to whose kindness and talent we are indebted for the present delineation.". Benjamin Maund's The Botanist was a five-volume series that introduced 250 new plants from 1836 to 1842. The other characteristic is partial colouring - many of the finely detailed copperplate engravings are left with part of the flower and leaves uncoloured.
