Family Tomb Opened In Surrey - High spot of the ceremony - unlocking the door. When Mrs. Mary Gibson died in 1793 graves were often robbed. Mrs. Gibson left considerable sum of money so that the rector and churchwardens of St. Nicholas's, Sutton, Surrey, could go to the family tomb each year on August 12 to inspect and count the coffins. The result of this project, referred to by Hutzel as Foto Arte Minore, is thorough documentation of art historical development in Italy up to the 18th century, including objects of the Etruscans and the Romans, as well as early Medieval, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. Images are organized by geographic region in Italy, then by province, city, site complex and monument.

Village Church- Everyday Life in Uffington, Berkshire, England, UK, 1944 The local village organist kneels in prayer at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Uffington, Berkshire. Behind her is a monument to John Saunders, a 16th Century local man, who left money and cottages to the people of Uffington. His monument was erected in the South Transept of the church in the 17th Century.

The Queen's Golden Monastery was constructed on the orders of Queen Supayalat in 1885. It was barely completed when she was exiled to India with her husband Thibaw, the last king of Burma (r. 1878-1885), following the annexation of Upper Burma by the British Empire. Now destroyed, the monastery stood inside the Mandalay Palace grounds and was a magnificent wooden building lavishly decorated with ornate woodcarving and mirrored glass mosaics.
