Stately Stranger Of The Seven Seas -- Magnificent in the splendour of full canvas, the Finish four-mast barque Pamir, deeply; laden with a guano cargo riding placidly through the seas near Tiritiri bound for Auckland (23.1.38) one of the largest and finest sailing ships in the world and exemplifying all the best in modern day sailing vessels, she arrived here 73 days out from Astove Island in the South Indian Ocean and is expected to sail within two or three weeks for Noumea, New Caledonia, to load manganese ore for Europe. The Spanish in Oran's region. During the second third of the 19th century many Spaniards went as farmers to make their fortune in northern Algeria. On June 11, 1881, the men of the Marabout Mohamed el-Arbi, known as Bu-Amena, attacked farmers who were gathering esparto in the Oranian agricultural fields of Khalfalia and Frendah, near Saida (Algeria). It caused panic among European emigrants. Many of them returned to their countries of origin. 9,000 Spaniards did so between 11 and 22 June 1881. Port of Cartagena (Spain).
