A hospital on wheels, the invalid saloons on the London and North Western Railway. Special thick flooring was used to deaden the vibrations and noise from the patient. The saloons are electrically lighted, with a ventilated by extractors and steam heated. Date: 22nd June 1907

Detroit, Michigan: July 13, 1936. The interior of one of the coaches on the New York Central Railroad's new streamlined Mercury train. Each seat has individual lighting controls and the back wall has a mural of the Detroit skyline. The train was designed by noted industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss and will operate between Cleveland and Detroit.
