One of several Environmental Continuous Air Monitors, or ECAMS, is located in the Space Coast area on July 27, 2020, in preparation for launch of NASAs Mars 2020 mission on July 30. The ECAMS are updated versions of those that were used for the launch of Curiosity. The Data Collection and Assessment Center uses information from the network of remote monitoring devises, including several that are located in areas for specific weather forecasting reported back to the operations center.

An Air Traffic Control radar has been constructed at Shiloh for the NASA control tower at the Shuttle Landing Facility. It will be used by NASA and the Eastern Range for surveillance of controlled air space in Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station restricted areas. Shiloh is on the northern end of Merritt Island.

TROPICS - Rocket Vertical on Pad. Rocket Labs Electron rocket is vertical on the pad at Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand. NASAs Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats (TROPICS) CubeSats are secured in the payload fairing atop the rocket. TROPICS is scheduled to launch on Monday, May 1, at 1 a.m. New Zealand time from Launch Complex 1, Pad B. TROPICS will provide data on temperature, precipitation, water vapor, and clouds by measuring microwave frequencies, providing insight into storm formation and intensification.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- At Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, the Stage 0/1 interstage, part of the four-stage Taurus XL rocket that will carry NASA's Glory spacecraft into low Earth orbit, is lifted by crane toward the pad at Space Launch Complex 576-E.Once Glory reaches orbit, it will collect data on the properties of aerosols and black carbon. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA's new mobile launcher, or ML, support structure, consisting of a base, a tower and a launch mount, is complete. It took about two years to construct the launcher in the Mobile Launcher Park site, north of the Vehicle Assembly Building, or VAB.The 355-foot-tall structure will support NASA's future human spaceflight program. The base of the launcher is lighter than space shuttle mobile launcher platforms so the crawler-transporter can pick up the heavier load of the tower and a taller rocket. The next step will be to add ground support equipment, such as umbilicals and access arms, for future rocket launches.
