STS077-744-046 (19-29 May 1996) --- This view shows ship wakes off the coast of Fort Myers, Florida. The Sun glint reflecting off the ocean surfaces allowed man-made features to be seen and photographed by the astronaut crew members. When a ship or boat goes through the water it disturbs the surface of the water which causes the Suns rays to reflect back differently than the surrounding waters. Photographed on a weekend, this image illustrates how popular recreational boating is around the Fort Myers area.
