Advertisement for Wright's Coal Tar soap, the ideal Christmas present to send to a soldier at the front, along with a stick of Coal tar shaving soap. 'It will be immensely appreciated, for the need for soap at the Front is constantly being emphasised.' Date: 1915

An advertisement for the Decca portable gramophone, with no loose parts and ready to play directly opened. The gramophone was recommended for taking to the Front during the First World War and it is suggested here as a way to keep cheerful. The illustration depicts a couple of soldiers, possibly on sentry duty, standing by the entrance to a dug-out to enjoy the strains of music from the gramophone played by two officers inside. Advertisement from 1886 for Dr. Scott's Electric Corset, considered a 'great boon for the delicate' and able to cure all manner of ailments including palpitation, nervousness, hysteria, extreme obesity and 'internal weakness'. Electropathic cures were popular during the late 19th century. Dr. Scott also manufactured an electric hairbrush claiming to have similar curative effects. Date: April 17th 1886
