Descendants of Maj. Gen. Robert Bruce McCoy, the man whom Fort McCoy, Wis., is named after, visit the Fort McCoy History Center on July 8, 2022, during a special visit to the post by the McCoy family. In February 2024, USAID participated in the Fourth Annual Disability Inclusion conference. On Sept. 26, members of a Japanese Delegation toured the Bonneville Dam Visitor Center and met with subject matter experts from the Coastal and Hydraulics Research Laboratory, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as part of a technologies exchange.The Japanese visitors represented various organizations, including The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; The Institute of Country-ology Engineering; River Engineering, Water and Disaster Management Bureau; and Water Resources Policy Group.USACE is the world's premier public engineering organization, providing expertise and consultation services to the U.S. military, U.S. government agencies, and foreign governments to deliver vital engineering solutions at home and abroad.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Sept. 23, 2022) Sailors and civilian employees assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month during a ceremony hosted by CFAYs multicultural committee in the command auditorium. The event featured displays highlighting the contributions of Hispanic Americans throughout U.S. history and cultural dishes served to attendees. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleets forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - NASA astronaut candidate Tyler "Nick" Hague looks over photos inside the blockhouse at Complex 14 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, adjacent to NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Complex 14 served as the launch pad for Mercury astronaut John Glenn when he lifted off in 1962 to orbit the Earth, becoming the first American to do so. The astronaut class of 2013 was selected by NASA after an extensive year-and-a-half search. The new group will help the agency push the boundaries of exploration and travel to new destinations in the solar system.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Participants sign in at the Center for Space Education at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida for the 2013 International Space Apps Challenge. During the worldwide two-day challenge, more than 9,000 people and 484 organizations came together in 83 cities across 44 countries, as well as online, to develop new ways of solving challenges that NASA faces. At Kennedy, four teams brainstormed ideas with subject matter experts and others and worked nearly 32 hours straight to present their concepts to a panel of three technical and non-technical judges. Challenges tackled at Kennedy were Deployable Greenhouse, Kennedy Space Center 2040, Seven Minutes of Science, and Moonville - Lunar Industry Game.

The International Space University is a nine-week intensive course designed for post-graduate university students and professionals during the summer. The program is hosted by a different country each year, providing a unique educational experience for participants from around the world. There are about 125 participants representing 31 countries.

Exhibits draw crowds of young women attending the Sally Ride Science Festival, held at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla. The event promotes science, math and technology as future career paths for girls. Former astronaut Sally Ride addressed the girls, while breakout sessions afforded closer interaction between Ride and festival attendees. Visitors to the Hampton Roads Naval Museums 12th Annual Brick by Brick: LEGO Shipbuilding event at the Decker Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia look at a large scale LEGO ship models on display. The event is an annual event hosted by the museum, who partnered with The Navy League of the United States-Hampton Roads Chapter, the American Society of Naval Engineers-Tidewater Section, the First Lego League, Hampton Roads LEGO User Group, and the Naval History and Heritage Command, among others. Over 75 active duty Sailors assigned to various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia also volunteered during the event for a unique community relations experience.
