Zaagmolen 'Het Juffertje' in Zaandam.The very first driven sawmill by wind force, called 'Het Juffje'. The mill was invented by Cornelis Cornelisz van Uitgeest. The mill stood on a raft to turn it to the wind. Under the print a predicted position in Dutch on this very first sawmill.

The Dynamo Room in the first Edison Electric Lighting Station at the Pearl Street in lower Manhattan in 1882. There were six dynamos (generators), each output electricity that could power 1,100 lights. The dynamos were driven by steam engines run from boilers located in another part of the power plant.

Method of deepening a canal. A number of holes are drilled close together on bed and the spoil is put the barge accompanying the drilling rig. If current was not strong enough to level out the bed of the waterway, a scraper or drum was used to do the work. The process could also be carried out by two men (L) before canal was flooded.
