Using a fleet of front-end loaders, crawler excavators and dump trucks, the Army Corps is working block by block to clear debris and make way for new sand. Construction continues on the new Louisville VA Medical Center Aug. 9, 2022. The project includes the construction of a new 910,115 square foot medical center, parking structures, a 42,205 square foot central utility plant, roadways, sidewalks, and other site improvements. The new 104-bed, full-service hospital located in Louisville, Kentucky, will provide world-class healthcare for more than 45,000 Veterans in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Construction is anticipated to be complete in 2026.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, in partnership with the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is continuing construction at McGregor Lake near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Marquette, Iowa, to create islands to restore floodplain forest habitat for wildlife, including migratory birds. The partners had a site visit to view progress July 5.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Construction work progresses on Phase I of Exploration Park at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida.Exploration Park is near the Space Life Sciences Laboratory (SLSL). The first phase encompasses 60 acres just outside Kennedys security gates. Nine buildings will provide 350,000-square feet of work space, including educational, office, research and lab, and high-bay facilities. Each building is expected to be certified in the U.S. Green Building Councils Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED). Exploration Park is designed to be a strategically located complex, adjacent to the SLSL, for servicing diverse tenants and uses that will engage in activities to support space-related activities of NASA, other government agencies and the U.S. commercial space industry. The SLSL will be the anchor facility for the park.

Tornado - Holt, Ala. , August 19, 2011 - A bulldozer hoists concrete buckets to repair a section of Hurricane Creek Train Bridge, after an April 27th tornado ripped through the center of it. Hurricane Creek Bridge is the oldest and longest railroad bridge in the south east, built between 1909 and 1913. It is now owned by Alabama Southern Railroad, an 85 mile track running east from Columbus, MS to Birmingham, AL. Repair on the bridge began on May 25th and are expected to continue through November. A U.S. Air Force Airman operates a tractor to relocate contaminated soil onto a temporary storage site as part of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Public Works Department and Joint Task Force-Red Hills (JTF-RH) hazard material spill recovery operation at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) in Halawa, Hawaii, Dec. 1, 2022. Remediation of the spill site through excavation and removal of contaminated surfaces and material was immediately initiated after an estimated 1,100 gallons of aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) concentrate spilled from the fire suppression system at RHBFSF Adit 6 on Nov. 29, 2022. JTF-RH was established by the Department of Defense to ensure the safe and expeditious defueling of the RHBFSF.

An engineer Soldier with the Army Reserves 390th Engineer Company of Chattanooga, Tenn., operates a bulldozer moving dirt July 26, 2022, as part of an ongoing troop project at Fort McCoy, Wis. The project work is in an area of land near the old Gate 20 and Improved Tactical Training Base Liberty and the cantonment area fence, said Larry Morrow, troop projects coordinator with the Fort McCoy Directorate of Public Works (DPW). The site plan is to make it into a base operations support site for installation service contractors, such as facility maintenance, roads and grounds, solid waste, custodial, pest management, and more. DPW Operations and Maintenance Division Chief Nate Sobojinski said DPW is combining all its service contractors in one location near commercial gate access to keep suppliers from having to drive around post bringing supplies to various locations. Work will continue to be ongoing in the entire area, officials said. The 390th also completed other projects in their time

Clearing and snagging of approximately 3.3 miles of channel at Ward Creek is underway to remove vegetation and debris from the channel to increase capacity and promote more efficient flow. Ward Creek is part of the East Baton Rouge Flood Risk Reduction Project. The improvements made in this project are designed to reduce the risk of flood damages caused by out of bank flooding during heavy rainfall events. The estimated completion date is set for Spring 2024.
