Last week, the Fort Stewart garrison command teamCol. Manny Ramirez and Steven Hoodvisited the installation fire department for burn training. The garrison commander and deputy garrison commander were suited up in turnout gear, put on breathing apparatus, learned how to use the hose, and entered the burn training facility to fight a fire. After the burn training, both had a deeper appreciation for what the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Fire Emergency Services firefighters do to keep our installation safe.

Firefighters with the 246th and 256th Engineer Detachment, Connecticut Army National Guard, train to extricate themselves from an enclosed low visibility environment. The training was done at Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Michigan, Aug. 14, 2022. The training was part of Northern Strike 22, a tailored readiness producer that has brought together participants from various states and countries at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center.
