Elwe, 1794. The artist of the fine plates is a mystery: the title bouquet has the signature of Paul Theodor van Brussel (1754-1795), the Dutch flower painter, and one auricula is "drawn from life" by A. Bres. According to Hunt, 30 plates show the influence of the famous French artist Nicolas Robert (1614-1685).

Noemi rose, hybrid raised by Monsieur Aubert of Rouen in 1847. Chromolithograph drawn and lithographed after nature by F. Grobon from Hippolyte Jamain and Eugene Forney's "Les Roses," Paris, J. Rothschild, 1873. Jamain was a rose grower and Forney a professor of arboriculture. François Frédéric Grobon (1815-1901) ran his own atelier and illustrated "Fleurs" after Redoute with his brother Anthelme as the Grobon freres.

Brookshaw (1751-1823) was a successful cabinet maker who disappeared in the 1790s before returning as a flower painter with the anonymous "New Treatise on Flower Painting," 1797.

Opuntia, nopales or paddle cactus, Nopalea cochenillifera (Spineless cochineal fig, Cactus cochinillifer) with cochineal beetles. Handcoloured zincograph by C. Chabot drawn by Miss M. A. Burnett from her "Plantae Utiliores: or Illustrations of Useful Plants," Whittaker, London, 1842. Miss Burnett drew the botanical illustrations, but the text was chiefly by her late brother, British botanist Gilbert Thomas Burnett (1800-1835).
