Quilt, Star of Lemoyne pattern variation. Culture: American. Dimensions: 85 x 70 in. (215.9 x 177.8 cm). Date: ca. 1860.The ground fabric of this quilt top is black silk. The stars are pieced of a variety of colored silks. The plain black blocks are diamond quilted. Each individual piece of silk that combines to farm the stars is quilted around its edges.
