Fighting Faces. It's the impatient calm before the storm as a Coast Guard-manned landing boat moves toward the beach of Okinawa. Wearing their war paint, Marines present a study in facial expressions of fighting men just before the firing starts. However, the inevitable American card game goes on among a group of battle-seasoned amphibious attackers. The boy at the right looks out over the gunwales and no doubt sees, in his mind, scenes of his faraway home. Others lounge on the deck, their thoughts divided between the battle ahead and their loved ones halfway around the globe.
