LA - Southwest Pass. Southwest Pass Light Station, Louisiana. From the SW corner of the dam towards the NE corner. The pile work of the foundation finished, part of the platform, on which the driver stood, taken up and removed. On the left center of the foreground a "run" for wheelbarrows; in the distant center a lot of wooden boxes. These fit into the parts of the dam and were used to shovel mud through them. The lower edge of the posts is about 2 inches above high water and spring tides. To the left of these boxes, the pole marking the intersection of the several cuts which were made for exploring the island; these cuts are now nearly grown over with cane and grass. To the left of this pole, the present S.W. Pass lighthouse.
