Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro speaks to students, faculty and staff at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) during a Secretary of the Navy Guest Lecture (SGL) about lifelong learning on Aug. 18, 2022. On display is Secretary Del Toros NPS thesis project from 1989, which explored the utilization of bubble memory to capture satellite telemetry data. The SGL series exposes NPS students, faculty and staff to prominent speakers recognized as distinguished leaders in their fields of expertise. Del Toro is visiting San Diego and Monterey to visit with Sailors and Marines at installation commands, engage with leadership at the Surface Warfare Flag Officer Training Symposium, and to discuss strategic initiatives at NPS.

Dr. Lisa Miller, a professor in the clinical psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University, presented as part of the Army's Spiritual Readiness Initiative (SRI) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Sept. 7, 2022. We are innately spiritual beings, said Dr. Miller. When we strengthen the spiritual core, we are protected against the diseases of despair.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - Former astronaut Sally Ride talks to young women at the Sally Ride Science Festival, held at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla. The event promotes science, math and technology as future career paths for girls. Breakout sessions afforded closer interaction between Ride and festival attendees. Visit of figure skating star Michelle Kwan to State, where she joined Secretary Condoleezza Rice and Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes in the Treaty Room for the announcement of Kwan's appointment as the first American Public Diplomacy Envoy. In the role, Kwan, a five time World Champion and two time Olympic medalist, will reach out to international young people by visiting their schools and clubs to speak about leadership and to engage them in dialogue on social and educational issues.

Lisa-Watson Morgan, NASAs Human Landing System program manager, provides an overview of the program to Kennedy Space Center employees in the Florida spaceports Training Auditorium on Nov. 19, 2019. Watson-Morgans presentation was part of the centers Innovation Days, one of several events throughout the year aimed at fostering and encouraging an innovative culture at Kennedy. In addition to the presentation, Kennedy employees had the opportunity to attend an innovation showcase, where nearly 50 exhibitors demonstrated new technologies and innovations. Showcase participants included individuals from multiple directorates, programs and organizations throughout Kennedy.
