Sands Wins On Points -- A left from Pete Mead (U.S.A) hurtles past the head of impassive Dave Sands Australian holder of the British Empire middleweight championship, as the American middleweight grits his teeth and bores in during their 10-round fight at Harringay Arena, London to-nigh (Tuesday).Sands won on points. October 11, 1949.

Randolph Turpin retained his British Empire light-heavyweight championship and won the British title, by knocking out Alex Buxton after two minutes and fourteen seconds of the second round at Harringay last night (26-4-55). A typical Turpin thunderbolt rally in which he sank his left fist deep into Buxton's short ribs followed by a finisher to the jaw ended the fight. Buxton heaved and tugged at himself to get up on the points of his feet during the count to continue the fight but while he was still hauling himself erect (see picture) referee Ben Green shouted "Ten" - and the fight was over. April 27, 1955.

Doyle Takes Up Wrestling And Gets A New Lift On LifeLondon: "Where do we go from here", says ex-boxer, ex-guardsman, ex-singer Jack Doyle as he walks round the Harringay ring holding aloft his wrestling opponent Bucth, the Enthonian champion. For the Irishman who was making his debut as a wrestler, the match was triumph. After man-handling each other for nearly three rounds Doyle decided he'd had enough, with the result that Bucth's activities were abruptly curtailed in the third round by a knock-out. Champion Ronnie Clayton ducks just in time to avoid this long left lead from Al Phillips in their fight last night. Ronnie Clayton (Blackpool) kept his British and Empire feather-Weight titles when he outpointed Al Phillips, the "Aldgate Tiger", over 15 rounds at Nottingham, England, last night. Winner Take All: Moore has gone a long way since he fought in Australia before the war.But one thing is certain about him - he still has the best left hand in boxing. He pumped lefts into Johnson's face until it was time to open out and finish him in the 14th. Only 8000 saw the fight at Madison Square Garden. However, Moore cashed in to the extent of 37,000 dollars, to 6000 dollars for Johnson. The challenger had to give Moore the total proceeds from television. September 30, 1953.

Dwyer wound up second and Santee third after the squabble, but Dwyer was disqualified and moved back for holding Santee. Bucth, the Esthonian champion, was beaten by Doyle after about ten minutes. Interviewed before the match Doyle said, he took up all-in wrestling only because the Boxing Board of Control had refused to give him a licence. "A guy with my energy must do something he said".
