An advance of Russian troops in the far east - marching along the Chinese Imperial Railway , Soldiers, Marching, Russo-Japanese War, 1904-1905

Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

The Second Boer War, 1899-1902 Military reconnaissance balloon with an escort. It took four carts to carry the gas tubes and one to carry the equipment, each cart was drawn by four horses. Two extra carts carried the baggage.

The Battle of Megiddo (Turkish: Megiddo Muharebesi) also known in Turkish as the Nablus Hezimeti ('Rout of Nablus') was fought between 19 and 25 September 1918, on the Plain of Sharon, in front of Tulkarm, Tabsor and Arara in the Judean Hills as well as on the Esdralon Plain at Nazareth, Afulah, Beisan, Jenin and Samakh. During the extensive set piece Battle of Sharon, four corps were deployed against three opposing armies. The Ottoman Empire front line was broken and captured by British Empire infantry, allowing the cavalry to subsequently almost encircle the Ottoman Eighth and Seventh Armies still fighting in the Judean Hills. The subsidiary Battle of Nablus was fought virtually simultaneously in the Judean Hills in front of Nablus and at crossings of the Jordan River.

Many of the Germans are reported to have ***** in forests until the tide of battle passed , however, and then to have returned to their homes.
