Helping To Solve The Housing ProblemA new idea now being used in Germany to speed up the building programme. Walls and other section of concerts or plaster are now "irradiated" with Infra Red rays. The new type of apparatus is said to develop a heat of 800-900 degrees, supplied from two propane gas cylinders mounted on a small portable trolley. German Women Sweat At Men's Jobs -- A sight such as this would be remarkable in London, but is common in Berlin today - a woman cleaning bricks.Life in Germany in these post-war days is not easy, especially for women. Black-market additions to their bare rations are too dear for the ordinary people, and their only alternative is to do a man's job on clearance and demolition work - the lure being a higher grade ration card which gives them a little more food.
