As early as 1883, construction work began on Svartön at Luleå for the Luleå Gällivare railway - Luossavaara - Victoriahamn. It took almost 6 years before the first ore train came down to Luleå in 1888. The track was built by Sweden & Norway Railway. However, it quickly turned out that the track's standard was too poor and the costs high. The financing from an English company was not enough to improve it. The course was therefore taken over by the state as early as February 1891. The following year, ore and passenger traffic started on the entire route. The exploitation in the ore mines began to increase. Capacity has also gradually increased by strengthening tracks, bridges, meeting stations and electrical operation. The Malmbanan had both political and commercial significance for the country. More recently it was noticed by tourism and has been a destination for dollar train, car train and simple train homes. The picture shows heavy -term ore trains on the way to Svartön.
