The Largest Cable Ship In The World -- Dynamoneter register, which shows the strain on the cable in hundred weights.The new telegraph ship "Monarch" which has just been completed for the postmaster General, is the largest cable laying and repair ship in the world. The new "Monarch" includes in her design many improvements and one of her outstanding ones is the driving of the cable machinery winches and windlass by electric power. She also carries a dynamoneter which enables the cable to lay between England and America and is commanded by Captain R.H.J. Walter who has been in the Service of the department for 26 years. The Royal Navy during the Second World War A Supermarine Walrus amphibious aircraft, which was one of the spotting aircraft used during the bombardment of Genoa and Spartivento, prepares to be launched from the catapult on HMS SHEFFIELD. Two crew members can be seen in the cockpit whilst a large crowd has gathered in the background to watch the launch. 'Spotter of Spartivento' is written beneath the cockpit.
