Indian Sloop Leaves Tyne For Trials The "Indus," a new sloop for the Royal Indian Navy, leaving the Tyne for trials yesterday. The new sloop is manned by 10 British officers and 114 Indian ratings, all of whom are Moslems, and Commander E.M. Bayfield, R.N., is in charge. She carries two 4.7 inch guns and depth charges and has a maximum speed of 17½ knots. March 16, 1935. (Photo by Topical Press).
