Experiments To Find The perfect ' Zebra ': The largest set of Zebra crossing in the experiment area, outside Iawisham Town Hall, showing the floodlighting standards and the flashing beacons. Experiments are being conducted by the Ministry of Transport and the Road Research Laboratory with the co-operation of local authorities, to find out the safest conditions under which the new Zebra crossings can be operated for both motorist and pedestrian. In strip of road between Lewisham Clook-Tower and Catford Town Hall, new devises are being tried out, which include special road surfaces, easily seen in wet. weather, Belisha beacons with steady and flashing lights, and beacons of light, contrasting with the street lighting, cast across the crossing.
