Seen here is the capture of Roanoke Island and the Charge of Zouaves. The illustration depicts Confederate and Union (the 9th New York Voulunteer Infantry, aka Hawkins Zouaves) troops in hand to hand combat during the battle of Roanoke Island, February 8, 1862. American soldiers advance on the left to repulse Natives American attack on their camp during the battle of Tippecanoe, Indiana, Sept. 26, 1811. The massed bayonet charge routed the Indians who began the battle with the advantage of a surprise attack on the American camp before dawn. Each side suffering around 150-175 causalities. It was a strategic victory for the US army, because the Shawnee Prophet leader was entirely discredited when his promise of immunity from bullets failed. Prophetstown was abandoned and its community disbanded. The Prophet, Tenskwatawa, in a white tunic, exhorts the retreating Indian warriors (BSLOC_2019_6_52)

Hungarian Revolution of 1848 (15 March 1848-4 October 1849). Siege of Buda (4 to 21 May 1849). General Heinrich Hentzi (1785-1849) mounted a defence on the Buda side of the Danube River in April 1849, locating his headquarters in Buda Castle after the Austrian evacuation of Pest. Hentzi managed to resist the Hungarian siege for over a month, refusing to surrender out of loyalty to Kaiser Franz Joseph I of Austria.
