Foods include many tinned and packed goods sent directly from the United States of America, including 'Klim' powdered milk, tinned fruit and tinned fish. The 8d Meat Ration Government Win By Eight -- The meat Carve-Up How a family copes with an 8d meat ration. Here Jack Davies is working up a headache as he wonders how to make it go round - while young John Howard Davies looks on even more glumly then when he was "asking for more" in the film of "Oliver Twist".The conservative motion of censure accusing the government of having to cut the meat ration through mismanagement was defeated by 306 to 298 in Britain's house of commons last night. Thus the government which has reduced the meat ration to 8d per person per week won with a majority of eight, which, because of illness, was two less than the government had on steel censure the day before.
