The Cancer Germ Romance -- A hitherto unpublished photograph of Dr. William E. Gye, who has found such sudden fame as one of the discoverers of the cancer virus. This was taken in his laboratory at Mill Hill during the long period of research which led up to this brilliant result that may have such far-reaching consequences. Experiments by Dr. W.E. Gye, are described in the Medical Journal as the biggest advance in cancer research for many years. March 25, 1949.

Dr. Alexander Fleming, (1903-1972), Scottish biologist who discovered antibiotic penicillin in 1928. During WW2 Howard Walter Florey and Ernst Boris Chain developed a means of producing penicillin on an industrial scale. All three shared the 1945 Nobel Prize for Medicine (BSLOC_2016_10_17)

Alexis Carrel (1873-1944), French surgeon in laboratory. He won the 1912 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, for his advancements in vascular surgery.

Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard (1882-1945). Dr. Goddard has been recognized as the father of American rocketry and as one of the pioneers in the theoretical exploration of space. Robert Hutchings Goddard, born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 5, 1882, was theoretical scientist as well as a practical engineer. His dream was the conquest of the upper atmosphere and ultimately space through the use of rocket propulsion. Dr. Goddard, died in 1945, but was probably as responsible for the dawning of the Space Age as the Wrights were for the beginning of the Air Age. Yet his work attracted little serious attention during his lifetime. However, when the United States began to prepare for the conquest of space in the 1950's, American rocket scientists began to recognize the debt owed to the New England professor. They discovered that it was virtually impossible to construct a rocket or launch a satellite without acknowledging the work of Dr. Goddard. More than 200 patents, many of which we

William Dunn School of Pathology, Oxford, decided to investigate the properties of substance, had proved by laboratory and clinical trials that it was non-poisonous and able to prevent the growth of many ***** and to cure a ***** of serious disease.
