Motorboat Safety - Don't Take Any Needless Risk of Capsizing a Boat. A lone occupant of a rowboat risks the danger of instabilizing his craft by leaning over the bow to retrieve an article lost in the water. The stern is upended clear of the water. The boatman, however, is taking less chance of capsizing by this position of retrieving an article from the water than by leaning over the sides.

This unusual series of action photos of U.S. Coast Guardsmen going through a rigid lifeboat drill depicts the training that teaches them to help others at sea. The Coast Guardsmen, off the New England Coast, capsize and right their overturned surf boat in two minutes as they prepare for anything the sea has to offer in the way of excitement. #275 - "Who's rocking the boat Somebody'll get wet here." #276 - "Every man for himself, now." #277 - "All present, or accounted for, sir." #278 - "Up she comes. Just plenty of hauling needed." #279 - "Back on an even keel. Others'll be here soon.".

'Britannia's' Royal Barge Being Made Ready For Coronation Review - Craftsmen working on the Royal barge at *****.The Royal barge for the new Royal yacht Britannia (launched by the Queen on Clydeside recently) is now being prepared at Portsmouth Dockyard.The barge, built by a Portsmouth firm in 1938, is being stripped, re-painted and re-gilded by a band of skilled craftsmen in the dockyard's big boathouse. Before the barge 'joins' the Britannia she will be in attendance upon H.M.S. Surprise (the despatch vessel to be used by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh) during the Caronation Naval Review.
