Photograph of Cuban Refugees - USCGC Ingham Operating in Florida Straits. After Cuban refugees including men, women, and children are taken on board the Coast Guard Cutter Ingham in the Florida Straits, their boat is hoisted on board the cutter. This fishing boat is typical of the craft used by escapees from Cuba. Twenty or thirty will somehow manage to crowd into one of these boats until it is submerged to the gunwales. The Coast Guard endeavors to bring all fishing craft to safety with the refugees in order to give them means of livelihood when they reach their new home in the U.S.

New Royal Barge Undergoes Trials at Portsmouth: The new Royal Barge at speed off Portsmouth.The new high speed Royal Barge is undergoing trials at Portsmouth (Hampshire) preparatory to being handed over to the Royal yacht "Victoria and Albert" for use by the King and Queen in connection with the Review of the Fleet at Weymouth (Dorsetshire) next week.The boat was built by Vosper, Ltd., and designed by Lieutenant-Commander Peter du Cane.It has a length of 40-feet and is capable of a speed of over 20 knots and a very smooth performance. Exceptional measures have been adopted to ensure extreme silence. June 10, 1938.
