The "Ocean" Goes to Cyprus - Dressed overall, the Aircraft Carrier "Ocean" is seen in Mount's Bay (Penzance) shortly before being recalled to go to Cyprus. She was visiting Penzance for the National West of England Redwing Yacht Championships.The Light Fleet Aircraft Carrier H.M.S. "Ocean" (13, 190) has had her week's visit to Penzance cut short. She was anchored in Mount's Bay Penzance, where she was due to stay for the duration of the National West of England Redwing yacht Championships. However the Ocean was recalled on Tuesday September 6th. and proceeded to Plymouth to embark Army equipment for shipment to Cyprus. September 09, 1955. (Photo by Fox Photos).

Autumn trip from Smaleel 1 that consists of Hr.Ms. De Ruyter (the flagship), Hr.Ms. Amsterdam, Hr.Ms. Holland (from November 11), Hr.Ms. Rotterdam, Hr.Ms. Sea lion, hr.ms. The bitter (between 8 and 22 November) and Hr.Ms. The inhabitant of Zeeland. A portion of the squadron departed from Den Helder, another part from Rotterdam. The journey went VA Brest, Gibraltar, Livorno, La Spezia, Lerici, La Specia, Gibraltar, Falmouth, Plymouth and Portland back to Den Helder. Aerial recording of Hr.Ms. De Ruyter (1953-1972).

Searching For Missing Comet Oil Patch Clue In Sea -- The Italian corvette 'Iris' which is engaged in the search for the missing Comet -G-Ally which was due at Cairo last night. A large patch of oil was found in the sea to-day by the Iris. The oil was floating 80 miles south of Punta della Campanella, on the extreme western tip of the Sorrento Peninsular. The Iris was sent to the scene after a plane had reported seeing floating lights in the Tyrrhenian Sea off Italy's West coast. "New Look" For A War Veteran -- The Aircraft Carrier H.M.S. Nairana, photographed at Belfast in July 1948. When she arrived for conversion to the Cargo Liner Port Victor.Now undergoing her sea trials is the Cargo liner Port Victor. This vessel was under construction on the Clyde during the war and was taken over by the Admiralty and eventually completed as an Aircraft Carrier, and named H.M.S, Nairana. From 1946 to 1948 she was on loan to the Royal. Netherlands Navy and served them under the name of the Karel Doorman. In July 1948 she arrived at the shipyards of Messrs, Harland and, Wolff, in Belfast, to be be reconverted to a Cargo Liner Port Victor. September 19, 1949. (Photo by Fox Photos).
