The face of any mature tree, pole, or any other permanent structure should be not less than three feet from curbs. Traffic will not use the outer several feet of pavement when there are unnecessary encroachments as indicated by the traffic wear in this photograph. Bituminous Surface Improvement of U.S. 90. Original caption: Louisiana Project F-201(12), Orleans Parish - US 90, Chef Menteur Bridge to Rigolets Bridge. US 90, in the northeastern section of Orleans Parish, between the Chef Menteur and the Rigolets Bridges (formerly an 8"-6"-6" concrete pavement, 20 feet wide) has been improved into a modern 26-foot bituminous surfaced roadway on a 60-foot embankment. The pavement was widened three feet on either side and covered with a 3 1/2 inch hot pre-mix bituminous wearing course. State: Louisiana.
