Embroidered sampler. Culture: Dutch, Friesland. Dimensions: 13 3/4 × 25 in. (34.9 × 63.5 cm). Date: 1698 or possibly a later addition.Samplers from Friesland, in the northwest of the Netherlands, are characterized chiefly by many alphabets and a tree of life motif. The work is dotted with domestic scenes and symbols, including a man walking a dog and several women positioned near or using tools, in addition to gardening tools, chairs, vases, and sewing pillows. The letters IA and IAS (or JA and JAS, as "I" and "J" were written interchangeably in the Latin alphabet at this time) and the year 1698 are stitched onto the linen, most likely the initials of the maker and the year in which she completed her work. Mammelukkentapijt.Oriental carpet, so-called mammeluktapijt, with three medallions above each other on a red midfield, two octagonal and an eight-pointed star, filled in the middle, filled with nozzles. Smaller medallions fill the field. Turquoise blue border with concatenation of diamond-shaped and stretched cartouches.

Fragment silk tissue in tapestry. Fragment of a tissue in tapestry with linen necklace and yellow silk impact. The drawing is formed by a red silk weft thread and divides the fabric into horizontal jobs, filled with braids and narrower tires with arabic inscriptions, including "long life, happiness".

Linen, plain weave; pulled thread work; embroidered with silk floss and linen yarns, in black, double faggot, hem interlocking, loop, overcast, Russian overcast, and wave stitches; embroidered with silk floss in back, cross, double running, long-armed cross, satin and stem stitches. Fragment of a Coat early 14th century The repeated Arabic inscription in thuluth script is translated as "Glory to our master the Sultan alMalik alMuayyad." This probably refers to the Rasulid sultan al-Mu'ayyad Da'ud ibn Yusuf (r. 1297-1321), indicating that this is one of the many objects manufactured in Egypt for the Yemeni sultans, either as diplomatic gifts or special commissions. Several other fragments of this textile survive, and their shapes suggest that they once formed a coat.
