Scotland Yard Approves First Radio-Cab -- "Good as Gould". Chief Super intendant H. Gould, Head of the Police Taxi Department tests the radio cab, at New Scotland Yard today, (Tuesday).The first taxicab to be fitted with business radio (two-way) for duty on London's streets, was today (Tuesday) approved officially by the Commissioner of police. The cab is an "Oxford" fitted with Very High Frequency radio by Marconi, and its owner Mr. Alfred Smith of Plaistow, hopes to save both time and petrol with its use.
