From the mixing tanks the pulpy mixture of guncotton, Nitroglycerin, and water is pumped into large tanks in an adjoining building, where after checking the temperature ***** the mixture, a machine will remove excess water, press ***** into wet sheets, about half an inch thick.Cordite, the standard propellent for British rifles and guns, results from a specially prepared mixture of guncotton and Nitroglycerin generally, it is in the form of thin, honey-colored sticks or cords. Cordite is being produced on a large scale at this Melbourne plant. April 11, 1942.

The Coronation is almost here but Lancashire has had such great demands on cotton that the county is still turning out thousands of yards of coronation cottons to satisfy the world-wide demand. This printed design produced at the Calico Printers Association's Broad Dak (Lancashire) Works shows a portrait of the Queen encircled by the worlds 'God Save our Queen'.
