Attached to a table at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Centers environmental lab, the cruise motor controller is exposed to specific levels of vibration, allowing NASA to examine the structural integrity of the hardware. VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- At Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, a technician applies a sheet of thermal insulation on a Poly Picosatellite Orbital Deployer, or P-POD, container. The P-POD will hold three CubeSats or tiny satellites, designed and created by university and college students that will be carried on the Taurus rocket along with the Glory spacecraft.The Orbital Sciences Corp. Taurus XL rocket will carry NASA's Glory spacecraft into low Earth orbit. Once Glory reaches orbit, it will collect data on the properties of aerosols and black carbon. It also will help scientists understand how the sun's irradiance affects Earth's climate. Launch is scheduled for 5:09 a.m. EST Feb. 23. For information, visit www.nasa.gov/glory.

Forrester, STS-117 mission specialist, uses virtual reality hardware in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at Johnson Space Center to rehearse some of his duties on the upcoming mission to the International Space Station. This type of virtual reality training allows the astronauts to wear a helmet and special gloves while looking at computer displays simulating actual movements around the various locations on the station hardware with which they will be working.

NASA Connects All Major Structures of Artemis II Moon Rocket Core Stage. Teams with NASA and Boeing, the core stage lead contractor, at NASAs Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans have fully integrated all five major structures of the Space Launch System (SLS) rockets core stage for Artemis II, the first Artemis mission that will send four astronauts around the Moon and return them home. Technicians joined the engine section to the rest of the rocket stage March 17. Next, teams will integrate the four RS-25 engines to the engine section to complete the stage. Located at the bottom of the 212-foot-tall core stage, the engine section is the most complex and intricate part of the rocket stage, helping to power Artemis missions to the Moon. In addition to its miles of cabling and hundreds of sensors, the engine section is a crucial attachment point for the RS-25 engines and two solid rocket boosters that produce a combined 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff. The implant has 5 biosensors, which measure the density of various molecules, a temperature sensor and a PH sensor. Researchers can select the molecules they wish to detect on each separate biosensor (eg. Glucose or cholesterol). The implant is positioned according to the pathology to be monitored. Recorded data is sent using a special app via Bluetooth to a smartphone, tablet or computer.
