CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Attendees of the Tom Joyner Family Reunion wait their turns to have photos taken that will make them appear to be dressed in space suits. The reunion was held in the Exhibit Hall of the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla., and hosted by nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner during the extended Labor Day weekend Sept. 1-4. Besides offering attendees the opportunity to visit tourist attractions in the Orlando area, the event gave NASA education specialists an avenue to tout the benefits of math and scientific learning, as well as the many educational opportunities offered by the space agency.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Students present their investigation project to their peers, scientists, engineers and education specialists during the NASA Explorer Schools Symposium at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. About 60 fourth- through 12-grade students from across the nation are at the center May 4-7 participating in tours of processing and launch facilities and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, as well as several educational activities and a career panel question-and-answer session. About 30 teachers will receive professional development opportunities during the symposium.The participants were competitively selected after they completed an original investigation focused on existing NASA missions or research interests.

How High Is It An Educator's Guide with Activities Focused on Scale Models of Distances was presented by Carla Rosenberg of the National Center for Microgravity Research at Glenn Research Center. ORLANDO, Fla. - The Pink Team participates in the regional FIRST robotics competition at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The team is made up of students from Rockledge, Cocoa Beach and Viera high schools along the Space Coast of Florida. NASAs Kennedy Space Center is a sponsor of the team. The Pink Team finished sixth in the competition called "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology," or FIRST, among about 60 high school teams hoping to advance to the national robotics championship. The team also took home the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors. Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune helped host the annual Retiree Appreciation Day on September 24, 2022 at Camp Lejeune. The event is hosted by NMCCL's Health Promotion and Wellness Department and Camp Lejeune's Retired Affairs Office and serves to provide retirees with health care information and resource sharing. Hundreds of retirees attended the event which had not been held since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
