Night Banquet and Masquerade. Interior in which a company holds a night sofa closet and a masquerade. On the left a group of masked comedians, on the right is music made by a man with a lute, a woman with a songbook and a woman behind a Klavechord. Against the rear wall of the room is a long-set table, where eaten and drunk. A few guests play Triktrak, others dance. On the right at the door an old coupler with a young woman going on, in addition a mistear. On the wall there are three paintings with representations of Tobias with the fish, lot and his daughters and Venus and Adonis. Copy to a print of Sadeler to a Joos van Winghe design, with a different background.

Venetian Glass Workers c 1880-1882 Venice. Trained in Paris, John Singer Sargent traveled to Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy early in his career in order to study how painters such as Diego Vel·zquez and Frans Hals captured the effects of light and rendered figures in space. Venetian Glass Workers is one of several genre scenes featuring glass-bead workers that Sargent executed in the early 1880s. This backlit view of a shop in Venice is dark and atmospheric except for the brilliant strokes of light green and silvery white paint that describe the canes of glass as tradespeople prepare to cut them into bead-sized pieces, which will then be polished and strung into jewelry..
