Abruzzo L'Aquila Rosciolo dei Marsi (environs) S. Maria in Valle Porclaneta. Hutzel, Max 1960-1990 Exterior views of this former Benedictine abbey church include an inscribed plaque before the narthex; a polygonal apse with foliate sculptural details (13th century); and windows. Interior views include the tomb of Mater Niccolo and damaged frescoes (13th-16th centuries), but most coverage is of the architectural sculpture. The choir screen (mid 12th-13th centuries) is decorated with seraphim, busts of apostles in relief, foliate forms, rosettes, eagles, a lion, dragon, griffin, acanthus molding and vine scroll.
