Acanthamoeba is a microscopic, free-living amoeba, or amoeba (single-celled living organism), that can cause rare but serious eye, skin, and central nervous system infections. The amoeba is found worldwide in the environment in water and soil. The amoeba can spread to the eyes through the use of contact lenses, cuts or wounds in the skin, or by being inhaled into the lungs. Most people will be exposed to Acanthamoeba in their lifetime, but very few will become ill from this exposure.

Streptococcus viridans. The viridans streptococci are the most common bacterial inhabitants of the oropharynx and can also be found in the gut and urogenital tracts. They may give rise to various human infections, including dental caries, endocarditis and abdominal abscesses.

E. nana trophozoites measure 6m - 12m, and possess a single nucleus with a characteristically large, irregularly shaped, blot-like karyosome. The nucleus has no peripheral chromatin. The cysts of E. hartmanni are similar to those of E. histolytica, but smaller, measuring 5 to 10 m. Mature cysts contain four nuclei which have a small centrally located discrete karyosome and evenly distributed peripheral chromatin. Cysts may not be visible on unstained specimens. Marburg hemorrhagic fever is caused by a genetically unique zoonotic, ie animal-borne, RNA virus of the filovirus family, its recognition led to the creation of this virus family.
