General Eisenhower Receives Freedom Of The City Of London -- The scene in the historic Guildhall as General Eisenhower receives the token Sword of Honour - the curved sword carried by the famous Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo - from the Lord Mayor. Seated behind the Prime Minister and the American Ambassador, in the foreground, is the present Duke of Wellington, wearing military uniform, who presented the sword for the occasion. Many distinguished persons can be identified round the greet table.General Dwight D. Eisenhower drove through cheering crowds to the Guildhall, where he received the Freedom of the City of London. The Supreme Allied Commander was afterwards guest of honour at a luncheon in the Mansion House, which was attended by the City Corporation, members of the War Cabinet, and many other distinguished persons, heeded by the Prime Minister. June 12, 1945.

Coast Guard Officers Study Navigation Safety for Great Lakes at Cleveland Parley. Headed by Vice Admiral Russell R. Waesche, Commandant of the U. S. Coast Guard, a group of Coast Guard officers meet at Cleveland, Ohio, to study safe navigation measures for the Great Lakes. While the Coast Guard is engaged in combat on sea fronts all over the world, it continues to carry on its function of promoting expeditious and safe operation of vessels on all navigable waters of the United States. Radiolocation Beating The Bombers -- Radiolocation stretches but far beyond Britain's shores to send back warnings of the approach of enemy aircraft. At Headquarters, a radiolocator's messages and those of the Observer Corps are communicated instantly to R.A.F Operations Rooms where they are plotted on large table maps. The Radiolocators are maintained by highly skilled radio mechanics and manned by R.A.F and W.A.A.F radio operators.
